Cambodian children

These shots were taken during my trip to Siem Reap, Cambodia last October 2006. I believe these were taken in Bantay Srei, one of the four temples we visited. With ruins all around, husband and I kept taking pictures of practically the same thing. And when you've seen one ruin, you feel you've practically seen them all. While the temples we saw were all distinct from each other, they all kind of merge in my memory and soon, I forget which is which. But these two pictures are truly my favorites, among the more than 400 shots taken between me and husband. These children were just sitting among the ruins, looking at tourists, and not really asking for a handout. What struck me about the girl was her red skirt, always a great color to wear against the grey ruins. And the boy, while clad in basics, just happened to blow his face up for my picture. Got the shot and it's one I can never forget. I should have given them some money or food though, ha ha... take note, these shots, I believe, can only be taken with an SLR. Used aperture priority setting, if I remember, and also had husband's portrait lens which blurs the background beautifully.
